The company’s automotive center is in Rochester Hills, Michigan which consists of finance, sales, engineering, testing, and program management, and will serve as the location for the new Director of Human Resources.

Position Summary:

Oversee the Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSE) for Hudson, Michigan, and Battle Creek, Michigan plants. Assist in managing site safety compliance activities. Assist in Injury management from reporting, mitigation to workers compensation. Assist in company needs for training, research available sources to deliver that training, and organize, implement, administer and/or conduct the training programs as required.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

• Work with the HSE Manager and the Human Resources Manager to develop an effective Safety program.

• Drive the reduction of the number and the severity of accidents and injuries to ensure Workers Compensation costs are significantly reduced.

• Ensure the results of safety inspections are documented; monitor the investigation of accidents and injuries; ensure corrective actions are taken; and provide recommendations to prevent similar accidents.

• Oversee and lead the efforts of the Safety Committee in plant improvements, ergonomics, safety training, environmental concerns and other related areas.

• Ensure that the company remains in compliance for all local, state and federal safety and environmental laws and regulations.

• In conjunction with all department Managers, perform a skill assessment/ training needs analysis for all the departments within the company.

• Manage updating and ensuring all Job Hazard Analysis are accurate and up to date.

• Assist in site specific effectiveness of the annual training matrix, change, modify and update as required to keep the company current with any new customer or legal requirements.

• Lead and facilitate cross-functional team training, quality circles, team building, etc. as required.

Education:

• 4-year degree in Environmental or Health Sciences or equivalent experience

• 0-2 years of experience in related field is required

Functional Experiece:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Manufacturing environment experience desired, automotive a plus

• Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written

• Uphold all company policies required to provide top quality service to external customers
